When does ESG (CSRD) reporting become mandatory
The CSRD Directive introduces a phased rollout of reporting obligations.
Large public-interest entities (e.g., listed companies, banks, insurers) employing more than 500 workers – i.e., entities already covered by the NFRD directive.
All other large companies that meet at least 2 of 3 criteria: • ≥ 250 employees • ≥ €40 million net revenue • ≥ €20 million balance sheet total
Small and medium-sized listed companies (SMEs listed on regulated markets), excluding micro-enterprises. May use a transitional period and defer reporting until 2029.
Non-EU companies that have in the EU: • revenue > €150 million annually and • at least one subsidiary or branch in the EU meeting certain thresholds.
